Hey there! Been playing the Praaven Reworked world for a historical challenge and been loving every second of it! You and the other creators really made something magical! But just wanted to ask if you knew anything about routing issues in the world? I'm 9 sim weeks into my save and people will randomly freeze on the roads, often times I have to reset the sim to have them move again. Is this a common occurence?

Hello there :) I'm happy to hear you enjoy Praaven, it really is one of the best worlds out there.

So, when we reworked it we fixed a lot of the routing issues the original world had. We also playtested it quite thoroughly to make sure it would run decently. But of course it is still a large world and has the same problems as all large worlds in regards to performance and smoothness.

In general routing issues show themselves by sims stopping and stamping their foot, waving their arms at you complaining. There is also a thought bubble over their head.

Sims freezing in a spot sounds like a different problem. Does it happen in the same spots all the time? Where are the sims headed when they freeze? Do you use mods? It also could be faulty CC, or maybe an issue with your graphics settings.

Reminder. Only 3 days have left.

Only 3 days left to closing migration thread at sims forums. After 3rd March, Sunday, it won't be possible to nominate threads to move onto new forum. If you have something important, nominate it, otherwise it might be lost.

I nominated many threads, especially older ones, but it was hard to track tutorials, since they don't have any tag or special section on the forum. EA_Cade said that he thinks 90% of migrated threads should be transferred fine, but I think it'll be kinda otherwise. Before 2017-2018 hardly even who knows about existence of AHQ forums. Many simmers probably didn't use it at all, because if they had problems or questions, they asked on sims forum. Older threads might be either not trasferred (if original poster has no account there) or will be full of holes like swiss cheese (because commentators may not have account there). Either way, it will be more devastating for Sims 3 content rather than Sims 4, I'm sure.

I even wrote to a few people who contributed much into community, and returns from time to time, that they might want to move some of their stuff, to be sure it won't be gone, but no response.

Pardon a sec, how does one make CAW recognize new textures? I tried making some colored textures like you suggested, using one of the default textures as a base, but CAW is acting like they aren't there in the folder. I double-checked that they're in source textures, but they're not turning up, and I'm not sure why. Refreshing and restarting it hasn't helped either. x,x;

Hi there :)

You can use any .dds file as texture and in fact should create your own ones instead of overwriting EA textures. Textures should have DTX5 .dds-format (with mipmaps and alpha channel) and a size of at least 512x512 pixels. You can use larger sizes (e.g. 1024x1024 or 2048x2048) but always make sure to have a square size that is a multiple of 256.

Source textures is the correct folder, you can also use subfolders for better overview. Do you know how to add a new layer? There is this little button below the Layers list in the Terrain Painting window. If added as a new layer they should show up in CAW immediately, no need to reload.

You can also replace the textures of existing layers. Right click on the texture in the list and chose "edit", then chose a different texture. If you change the texture in an editing program without changing the name you will have to clear all caches and potentially remove the original texture from the world file also before any changes show up.

Mind, each texture is stored in the world file. So if you experiment a lot you'll have a lot of unused textures in your world file which of course bloat the size of it. But there are easy ways to take care of that.

Furthermore I'd like to recommend my guide which covers terrain paints and textures in great detail: https://nornities.tumblr.com/post/185960700931/caw-for-absolute-beginners-a-guide-it-took

Or drop me another ask/message if anything is unclear :)

TS3 World Tag Game

Rules: List your top 5 favourite Sims 3 worlds

Thank you for the tag, @bioniczombie and @ninjaofthepurplethings!

Hm, this is a really tricky one. I don’t play much, my usual hangout space is CAW. I also helped to create several worlds with themes and ideas I admire but it feels a bit pretentious to list those.

So, my number one would probably be the evergreen planes of CAW. What is not to love about this? A new project, everything is possible, plenty of empty space to fill with your ideas and creativity, finally the world of your dreams will come true ;-)

~ The End? ~

Of course not. There are so many beautiful worlds out there. Maybe, when I have more time, I’ll make a post (re-)introducing some of them.

Tagging you all! Talk about worlds, show off your worlds, I want to see them all!

Hmm, since you with Crowkeeper have gave more Moon to Moonlight Falls, can we expect Sun boosted Sunset Valley? ;x

Hi, thank you for this funny ask! Don’t wait for it though, it's highly unlikely that would ever happen.
